ABOUT US

This picture was taken on a very cold day in December, almost two years ago.  The handsome guy is Matt, my husband, for anyone reading this that doesn't have the privilege of knowing him. He is me, only in manly form, and a tad bit more outgoing, although we are both pretty quiet and laid-back. I'm a big fan of marrying a similar personality type...it's nice to do life with someone who "gets" you.

We, after living in a tiny shoebox of an apartment, bought a house this past August. After numerous requests from family and friends to post pictures, I kept putting it off. I will when it's more presentable, I told myself.

But I realized that when you love to DIY, and consider scouring craigslist and curbsides your "furniture shopping," when transforming something beat-up, ugly, and forgotten into something beautiful is way more satisfying to you than finding the perfect piece at a high-price furniture store...you know, it just takes a little bit longer to get your house in order. (Whatever that means, anyway.) By the time I "got things presentable," we would probably be trying to sell the place anyway.

So this is to show you what we've done so far. To tell you the story of how things came to find a home in our home. Because when almost everything you own has a story, you want to tell it.

Our house is so not presentable. But we love it. Welcome to the Allison House!

Love,
Caitlin and Matt
